The role estrogen deprivation hyperandrogenism development EHT peri- postmenopause is discussed. main mechanisms periand postmenopausal women: sympathetic renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system hyperactivity, salt-sensitivity, high prevalence abdominal obesity, metabolic syndrome, left ventricular hypertrophy, atrial dilatation risk fibrillation, stroke heart failure with preserved ventricle ejection fraction. Pseudocyesis in peri- and postmenopausal women
Pseudocyesis or delusion of pregnancy is a rare psychopathological syndrome described in humans and higher mammals. We describe and discuss two cases of this rare syndrome in a 46-year perimenopausal and a 59-year old postmenopausal woman. Gynecologic, ultrasound examination, and biochemistry testing (b-HCG) confirm the diagnosis of nonexistent clinical and biochemical pregnancy. These examinat...

متن کاملHypertension in women--pathophysiological and clinical aspects.
Hypertension is the most important risk factor, responsible for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide, both in men and women. Cardiovascular disorders in women are still underestimated, due to lower absolute risk calculations and the underdetection of classical risk factors. In recent years the differences in pathophysiology and the clinical presentation and treatment of cardiac dise...
متن کاملPostmenopausal hypertension: mechanisms and therapy.
Hypertension in women is often undiagnosed or inadequately treated, especially after menopause when cardiovascular risk increases. In premenopausal women, endogenous estrogens maintain vasodilation and thus contribute to blood pressure control. Aging and the loss of endogenous estrogen production after menopause are accompanied by increases in blood pressure, contributing to the high prevalence...
